Work with Energy and the Trend of “Kundalini Awakening”: What You Need to Know

11/24/2025

In recent years, various energy therapies, courses, and classes promising energy work, kundalini awakening, or rapid spiritual transformation have been appearing more and more often. Many people enter these practices out of curiosity, a desire for change, or simply because it's "in fashion." And that's exactly why it's good to pause and ask yourself a few important questions.

Can someone else work with my energy?

In traditional spiritual lineages—whether yoga, Tibetan traditions, or modern teachers like Sadhguru—energy work is considered something very sensitive. They all agree on one thing:
Energy is intimate, deep, and personal.

This means that:

  • not everyone should intervene in your energetic field,

  • a therapist or teacher must be very experienced and grounded,

  • and most importantly: they should never work with your energy without your conscious consent and sense of safety.

Energy work can be healing, but it can also stir emotions, memories, and processes that a person may not be ready to handle. That is why traditional schools always moved slowly, gradually, and with a strong emphasis on stability and grounding.

Kundalini awakening as a trend

Today the term "kundalini awakening" appears frequently, and many present it as an experience that anyone can try—anytime. However, in the original yogic texts, kundalini awakening was understood as the result of long, ethical, and disciplined practice, not something triggered in a single session.

When the awakening of energy is rushed:

  • a person may feel emotionally or mentally overwhelmed,

  • the body may not be able to manage the intensity,

  • integration and grounding may be missing,

  • there may be confusion between a deep spiritual experience and a simple physical or emotional reaction.

The "highest," the masters and teachers who truly understand the energetic body, often say:
It's not important to awaken the energy — what matters is being ready for it.

Is it okay to work with someone on your energy?

Yes — but only if:

  • you trust the person,

  • they respect your boundaries,

  • they explain what they are doing and why,

  • they do not push, provoke, or manipulate anything,

  • and you yourself feel stable and clear.

Energy work should never be something someone "takes you into" without your active awareness. It should always be a partnership, not a one-sided process.

What to do when you feel pressure from the environment?

Many people today are fascinated by the idea of a fast spiritual path. But spirituality is not a race. Kundalini or any other energy does not awaken because "it's what people do now" — it awakens when a person is strong, grounded, prepared, and internally stable.

If you don't feel ready, if something feels off vibrationally, or if you have doubts, it is a clear message from your system:
Slow down, listen, give yourself space.

Energy work is a beautiful and profound path, but also a very sensitive one. It should not be a trend or a fashion statement. Every person has their own rhythm and inner intelligence that knows exactly when they are ready for what.

When we approach energy with respect, kindness, and patience, it can serve as a powerful tool for healing, growth, and understanding.
But the foundation must always be safety, awareness, and inner alignment.
